What is a Surface Roughness Report?

The article outlines what a surface roughness report is and specifies when a Manufacturing Partner is required to submit one

Updated over 4 months ago

A surface roughness report is a document that provides detailed measurements of the texture of a surface for manufactured parts. The report helps ensure that a part meets the required surface finish standards, which can affect the functionality, performance, and aesthetic quality of the product.

Surface Roughness Parameters:

  • Ra (Roughness Average): The average of all absolute deviations from the mean surface profile.

The surface roughness required can be found on the platform under the order configuration.

When will this report be required?

If 0.8um or less is required a photo or test report must be uploaded by the Manufacturing Partner during virtual quality control.
